Trash & Recycling

The Facts About Trash and Recycling

Republic Services provides our community’s trash removal and recycling services. Trash and recycling are to be placed in the street, against the curb (not on the grass) after 5pm the night before pick-up.

Glass Recycling
Fairfax County no longer accepts glass with curb-side recycling. Please do not place glass in the container with your other recyclables.

Glass may be recycled at a number of “Purple Box” locations in our area.  The closest glass recycling center to Sutton Ridge is just down the street off of Wiehle Avenue:

Baron Cameron Park
11300 Baron Cameron Avenue
Reston, VA 20190

Recycling Suggestions
Please join us in keeping our neighborhood clean and free of runaway trash. Thank you in advance!

  • Black garbage bags or garbage cans are preferred for your curb-side trash. Black bags are less visible than light-colored bags and are better at preventing wildlife from ripping into trash.
  • Tie trash bags tightly and secure trash can lids.
  • Filmy plastic (grocery store bags, plastic wrapping, bubble wrap) are not recyclable through our curb-side service.  These items can be dropped in the recycle receptacles provided at most grocery stores.
  • Food-soiled aluminum foil and pizza boxes should not be placed in recycling bins. The food renders them contaminated, and attracts animals.
  • Bubble gum wrappers, candy bar wrappers, torn up bits of mail and the like are best placed in the trash rather than in recycle bins.
